MENA Film Festival 2026 — Iranian Short Film Programme

Organised with Bibliotheek Laakkwartier, the event drew 42 people. Two Iranian short films, Saudade and Just Like Robin Williams, sparked an in-depth audience discussion about connecting with others. Sattar Al-Saadi performed live music, Wiam Al-Sawadi read poetry in Arabic and Dutch, and Fawaz Hourani shared poems on tolerance and peaceful coexistence. In a dialogue workshop lasting over an hour, participants explored the social cost of isolation and ways to challenge racism. A second workshop focused on writing short poems against racism. The evening ended with a prize ceremony and a shared dinner.
