The Iraqi film, “The Woodman” opens the MENA Film Festival in The Hague

The Administration of the MENA Film Festival in The Hague announced the screening of the film “The Woodman” by Iraqi-British director Koutaiba Al-Janabi. The film will be at the opening ceremony of the seventh edition of the festival, held from September 27 to 29 2024, in The Hague, The Netherlands.

The film’s protagonist is a human-sized wooden dummy who is forced to flee his homeland and his fate crosses with that of other characters to provide a vivid picture about the hearts and minds of those compelled to flee their homelands.
The motto of the film is “Nobody was born with the dream of becoming a refugee”.
The Woodman is distributed by MAD Solutions, Egypt.

The MENA Film Festival in The Hague aims to support young filmmakers and independent cinema in North Africa and the Middle East region by presenting contemporary visual perspectives to these regions. Its aim is to reach a wide audience, focusing on humanitarian topics, and contributing to establishing peace in the world.
