The festival was founded in March 2018 at Laaktheater, with Mohammad Al-Amin as artistic director and programmer. After four editions in partnership with Laaktheater, the festival rights were transferred to Mohammad Al-Amin, who organised the fifth and sixth editions independently.
Since the seventh edition, the festival is organised by Stichting Mesopotamië (Mesopotamia Foundation), founded by Mohammad Al-Amin and supported by the Municipality of The Hague and Dutch cultural funds.
