MENA Film Festival 2026 — Community Event at Panama Plein

Organised with Wijkz, the event brought together more than 40 people. Writer and researcher Shaalan Sharif opened with a talk on everyday racism. After the first two films, more than 15 audience members contributed to an in-depth discussion, sharing experiences of discrimination based on religion, sect or ethnicity. Amr Ali’s Salamlek prompted a further discussion on the oppression of women in Syrian society. The programme also included a drawing workshop and a prize ceremony, and ended with a shared dinner.
